Description

Introducing the revolutionary Gamechanger Audio Plasma Pedal, a unique approach to overdrive and distortion. This pedal pushes the boundaries of sound manipulation by transforming your instrument's live signal into a series of continuous high-voltage discharges within a xenon-filled tube. You're not just playing an instrument; you're playing a bolt of electricity.

This pedal deviates from conventional methods of achieving signal clipping, such as LED circuits, transistors or vacuum tubes. The result is an extremely heavy distortion that is quick, responsive, and loaded with unique character. The electrical discharges produced by your instrument are instantly converted back into an analog audio signal.

The Gamechanger Audio Plasma Pedal isn't just about the novelty of its design, it also offers a unique harmonic saturation. The byproduct of the high-voltage discharge creates harmonic artifacts that are uncommon in traditional signal amplification. This makes the Plasma distortion sound unlike anything else you've heard before.

The natural noise gate feature of this pedal allows for extreme contrasts between staccato notes while eliminating unwanted noise and pick-up hum. The moment you stop playing, the electrical discharge within the tube is interrupted, and the pedal produces no output signal, creating a sharp and distinct end to your notes.

Key Features:

  • A new, unexplored method of achieving signal clipping

Gamechanger Audio Plasma Pedal Review

russomusic.com

The Plasma Pedal is a bold and innovative distortion device that stands out with its unique xenon gas-filled tube, delivering an electrifying range of tones. Musicians will appreciate its intuitive controls, allowing for precise sound shaping—from subtle grit to aggressive buzz. The pedal's responsiveness to picking dynamics enhances the playing experience, making it ideal for genres like blues and metal. However, it may not satisfy those seeking a traditional or overly thick distortion sound. While it excels in articulation and clarity, some may find its niche too specialized. Overall, the Plasma Pedal is a thrilling option for those ready to explore modern distortion's frontier.

Pedal and Plasma Coil | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

Gamechanger Audio's Plasma Pedal and Plasma Coil deliver a bold new twist on fuzz effects, merging innovative technology with striking aesthetics. The pedals produce a vast array of detailed, dynamic sounds, retaining clarity even at extreme settings, making them suitable for discerning players, including those in heavy genres. However, the lack of included power supplies is a drawback, potentially adding to the overall cost. While the Plasma Pedal allows for subtle layering, the Plasma Coil caters to the more adventurous, offering varied textures and harmonic brilliance. For musicians seeking to push sonic boundaries, these pedals are an enticing option, but the absence of essential accessories may deter some.

Gamechanger Audio Plasma Pedal review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Gamechanger Audio Plasma Pedal dazzles with its striking design and offers unique, idiosyncratic fuzz tones derived from high-voltage discharges. While it can evoke joy with its unconventional sound, dialing in the right tone is a challenge, often leaving users caught between 'brittle' and 'muddy' soundscapes. This pedal is undoubtedly a conversation starter, but it may not replace traditional distortion boxes for those seeking simplicity and reliability. If you're an adventurous guitarist willing to experiment, it could be a fun addition to your rig, but temper your expectations regarding ease of use.

Best bass fuzz yet

It's built solid, has fuzz, and comes with freaking lightning! This really is a pro pedal for a range of bass and guitar fuzz. The bass it really shines to me, and can give your bass line an edge without destroying your bass tone. It's expensive, but this is a keeper.

Authentic signal with a twist

Authentic signal with a twist The pedal makes the most unique sound and sustains, because of the way it is constructed, you can't get this sound from any other pedal... it's like a LIVE WIRE being struck by Lightning in a Tornado.

You can use it as a heavy distorted FUZZ, or dial it down to just use the way it snaps the electrical signal.

“I mainly recorded everything clean and then DI the signal later on through effects. I tend to use plugins more than outside gear anyway because I find it easier to change the configurations. But there is one thing I discovered last year, which is the Plasma Pedal… it just has this great fuckin’ fuzz sound.”

“I wasn’t really running much in terms of pedals, it was mainly rhythm tones from the amp. I did use one of those Gamechanger Audio Plasma [distortion] pedals for crazy noises throughout the show, plus my EVH Phase 90 and maybe some delay for the clean tones on Summer Breeze by Seals And Crofts. "
