The Musician's Room: Review of Gibson Memphis ES-335 DOT Reissue

in2guitar.com

The Gibson Memphis ES-335 Dot Reissue impresses with its ability to deliver classic semi-hollow sounds reminiscent of vintage models, enhanced by its ‘57 Classic humbucking pickups. The guitar offers a sweet, airy tone with notable sustain, perfect for genres like blues and jazz. While there are minor finish flaws and a deviation from the original 1960 neck profile, the modern updates, like Grover tuners, are welcomed for better tuning stability. Despite some criticisms from purists about its historical accuracy, this reissue captures the essence of the classic ES-335, making it a worthwhile pursuit for those seeking that iconic sound.

Power punch & excellent Resonant.

Bought it on 2005. Was a under Gibson artist program between 2010 and 2012. They change the pickup with DirtyFinger on the bridge and 498T on the neck. It was a successful experiment, the sound is amazing. Still using it until today for recording and gig/shows.

Laufey can be seen using a different ES-335 Dot, this time one with some figuring on the top. This, along with the black knobs and Grover tuners, is pointing to it likely being a Memphis Dot reissue.
