Description

600 Watts At Your Fingertips

Hartke's lightweight TX600 is a 600-watt Class D bass amplifier that offers the legendary Hartke tube preamp circuitry in a highly portable design. Within a rugged, yet compact enclosure, the TX600 features an onboard compressor and unique tone stack EQ section that provides players of all styles with thorough control over their sound.

Tone Stack

Inspired by the countless hours spent by Hartke engineers listening to bass players of all genres, the TX600's tone stack EQ is a preset equalization curve tailored to bass guitar. The Shape and Frequency knobs provide detailed control of the midrange frequency voicing, while the Bass and Treble controls allow for further adjustments to create a tone that is your own.

Tube Preamp

Featuring the same Class A tube preamp circuitry as Hartke's renowned LH Series linear amplifiers, the TX600 produces a wide range of tone with incredible warmth and punch. The amp's Compressor knob provides control over the bass dynamics to establish a smooth, even sound, while a Brite button adds extra high frequency attack.

Transporter

Featuring an aluminum chassis and weighing only seven pounds, the TX600 is both rugged and portable. Its custom Class D amplifier provides the tonal characteristics of traditional linear amps, minus the backbreaking weight. With a headphone output and 1/8" (3.5mm) input for playing along to your favorite tracks, the TX600 is ideal for practice/rehearsal settings. An XLR direct output also optimizes the amp for direct recording or larger performance spaces.

Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Hartke TX600 Bass Amplifier.

Features and functionality

  • The TX600 is advertised as a 600w amp, but it's suggested the rating might be peak power rather than RMS, similar to Behringer's marketing tactics.

    Source
  • The TX600 includes a DI output, facilitating direct connection to a PA system.

    Source
  • The tone stack of the TX600 runs in series, potentially complicating adjustments as bass frequencies flow into mids, then into treble, making it difficult to use for some.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The Hartke TX600 is compared to the Hartke HA and LH series, with the latter being favored by some for its expected quality over the newer class D range.

    Source
  • Some users prefer the Peavey MiniMax 500 over the TX600 for its affordability and reportedly decent performance in the Class D category.

    Source
  • The HA3500 is praised for its durable build and responsive graphic equalizer, making it a reliable choice for pop rock styles despite its lower wattage.

    Source

User experience

  • Some users express disappointment with the TX600's power output, noting it seems underpowered when paired with two Hartke HX112 cabs.

    Source
  • Some players find the 410XL cab paired with a 400-watt amp to be exceptionally loud, even in punk band settings.

    Source
  • Owners note that the onboard compressor of the HA3500 is not ideal, suggesting the use of an external compressor for better results.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • A user suggests that the TX600's performance might differ substantially when used with larger configurations, like a 410 cabinet, rather than single 12-inch setups.

    Source
  • The rig can effectively handle distortion effects, as demonstrated by its use with a Darkglass Alpha Omega, suitable for indie rock and punk genres.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • A TX600 and 410XL cab in good condition is available for $800 CAD, while new sets retail for $1100 USD.

Hartke TX600 Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The Hartke TX600 delivers a lightweight, affordable solution for bassists seeking portability without sacrificing tone. This 600-watt class-D amp features a 12AX7 tube preamp for added warmth, and its straightforward controls make it user-friendly for players of all levels. While the lack of footswitch options for the mute and brite switch may disappoint some, the integrated compressor shines as a standout feature. Ideal for practice and small gigs, the TX600 offers versatility and value, but might not satisfy those seeking a distinct tonal character. Overall, it's a commendable choice for budget-conscious musicians.

Hartke TX600 Head review | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

The Hartke TX600 bass head delivers classic tube sound at a budget-friendly price, making it a compelling choice for vintage tone enthusiasts. Its lightweight design and robust construction offer practicality for gigging musicians. However, its power output seems overstated, and the fan noise can be distracting. Despite these drawbacks, the TX600's warm tone and effective compressor make it an attractive option for those seeking a traditional sound without the bulk. Overall, it's a solid investment for bassists looking for quality and affordability in a compact package.
