Iceman IC400 Review | Ibanez | Electric Guitars | Reviews @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

ultimate-guitar.com

The Ibanez Iceman IC400 impresses with its versatile sound palette, capable of handling anything from metal to jazz. The guitar's sturdy 3-piece maple set-neck and mahogany body evoke a nostalgic '70s vibe while delivering remarkable sustain. Players appreciate its reliability and durability, with many praising its ease of play for fast riffs and its adaptability across various music genres. However, some might find its performance lacking when compared to pricier models like the Ibanez JEM. Overall, it's a superb choice for those seeking a reliable, stylish instrument that caters to a broad range of styles.

Built like a tank, sustains for days

The IC400 features a mahogany body with a bound top mated to a maple set-in neck with a 22-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with parallelogram inlays. Components include a fixed bridge and tailpiece and dual Ibanez Axis humbucking pickups with individual volume and tone controls. The latest models were made in Korea between 2004-2007.

I always change pickups on my guitars and i´mcurrently using a Seymour Duncan 78 (bridge) and a Bill Lawrence L450R (neck). I like passive pickups with a hot PAF-ish sound (bridge) and a more low output PAF-ish sound (neck).

In this image, Fredrik Thordendal shows off a 1978 Ibanez IC400AV in its case, which based on the caption was presumably sent to him by Ibanez’s custom shop. It is unlikely he uses this with Meshuggah as it is only a 6 string, and it’s more feasible that this guitar is no more than just a part of his collection.

He can be seen playing this guitar in this live-shot from 2019. He has been playing this guitar on and off since 2007 to 2019 both in studio and live. Pick-up in the bridge position was changed from the original stock pick-up to EMG 81. Truss rod cover is customized (it reads "Negativity"). The guitar is from late 90s/early 00s and made in Korea.
