Ibanez UV70P review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Ibanez UV70P pays homage to Steve Vai's iconic Universe 7, delivering a nostalgic trip back to the 90s with its classic vibe and versatile low-end tones. While not the best choice for extreme metal due to its moderate output pickups, it excels in balanced sound and playability. The seven-string is a must for Vai enthusiasts, offering a more affordable option with the Premium Series' quality craftsmanship. Despite its wide neck, it remains highly playable, making it a standout choice for those seeking a blend of nostalgia and performance.

An Steve Vai signature guitar model resembling his "Green Dot" model from early 90's

I acquired this guitar at a second hand store. I bought it because I wanted to have a 7 string guitar for developing some modern prog-metal style in my playing. The UV70P is part of the Ibanez PREMIUM Indonesian line. It's playability is nice, but not as nice as some of the japanese Ibanez's I have tried; I would say 8/10. 10/10 for the looks! it's finish is beatiful. But then there are the Blaze stock pickups; I had a hard time getting used to their mid-scooped sound, but after a long set of hours tweking the knobs and configuration, I end up getting really fond of them.
