Review: IK Multimedia iRig Micro Amp

guitar.com

The iRig Micro Amp offers a compact solution for guitarists seeking portability, but it struggles with sound quality in standalone mode, producing a flat tone that lacks character. While the integration with IK Multimedia's AmpliTube app significantly enhances its capabilities, allowing for a wider range of tones, the amp's reliance on external connections can hinder its portability. It's a decent choice for home recording or practice, yet not without its limitations, making it a mixed bag for musicians looking for a truly versatile mini amp.

IK Multimedia iRig Micro Amp Review - All Things Gear

allthingsgear.com

The IK Multimedia iRig Micro Amp packs impressive portability and versatility into a compact design, making it a solid choice for traveling musicians. While the app integration opens up a world of sounds and effects, requiring some initial tweaking might deter those seeking plug-and-play simplicity. At $149, the sound quality is commendable for its size, yet it won't outshine more powerful amps. Just be prepared to invest in a separate power adapter if you prefer not to use batteries. Overall, it’s a fantastic option for guitarists looking for a lightweight and affordable amp, provided they are willing to dig into the app for optimal sound shaping.

The IK Multimedia iRig Micro Amp delivers impressive sound quality and versatility in a compact design, making it an appealing choice for musicians on the go. Its lightweight build and battery operation enhance portability, although the absence of a travel handle is a missed opportunity. With intuitive controls and robust performance across its channels, it effectively mimics a full-sized amplifier while also functioning as a mobile interface for recording. However, users may notice some hiss when using it as a playback speaker. Overall, it’s a fun and practical option for both hobbyists and serious players, though a Bluetooth feature could elevate its functionality.

The iRig Micro Amp stands out as a versatile, portable solution for guitarists seeking both practice and recording capabilities. With impressive battery life and a robust build, it delivers substantial sound despite its compact size. The dual connectivity for iOS and PC enhances its functionality, allowing seamless integration with Amplitube for rich sound processing. However, the mono playback and absence of a power supply in the box could be drawbacks for some users. Overall, this amp is a compelling choice for mobile musicians, balancing convenience with quality.

It’s replaced my main amp

I’ve used my irig amp for a couple years now and really love it an animal bypass into my Crate cabinet and play my AmpliTube app to use my Dimebag Darrell and Slash equipment and successfully capture my tone I had on my Peavey Vypr amp
