Critic Reviews

Positive Grid Spark Mini review | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

The Positive Grid Spark Mini shines as a compact powerhouse, delivering a rich array of tones and features, encouraging players to engage more with their instrument. Its portability and impressive volume for size make it a standout in practice amps. However, the headphone output leaves much to be desired, lacking sufficient volume even after updates. Additionally, the absence of a gain dial may frustrate some, though it can be managed via the guitar's controls. Overall, it’s a fantastic value for those seeking a versatile and inspiring practice solution.

Positive Grid Spark Mini review – Is this the greatest practice amp?

guitar.com

The Positive Grid Spark Mini is a compact powerhouse, delivering impressive sound quality and versatility in a portable package. Its Bluetooth capabilities and companion app offer a fun, interactive experience for practice sessions. However, the minimalist controls leave much to be desired, especially the absence of a gain knob, which can frustrate live tweaking. Additionally, users may encounter initial setup challenges, particularly with firmware updates and some latency issues when recording. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Spark Mini redefines practice amps, making it an excellent tool for guitarists looking to enhance their skills on the go.

positive

Positive Grid Spark Mini review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Positive Grid Spark Mini is a standout choice for guitarists seeking a compact yet powerful amp. With impressive tonal range and a seamless app integration, it excels in both practice and casual jamming. However, it is not without flaws; users reported low-level digital interference when used as a USB interface for recording. While this issue is acknowledged and a fix is on the way, it detracts from an otherwise stellar experience. Overall, the Spark Mini blends portability with quality sound, making it a worthy investment despite its shortcomings.

positive

Positive Grid Spark Mini amp review: Fantastically portable with some great tones, but limited in some ways compared to its big brother - Jon L. Jacobi

jonljacobi.com

The Positive Grid Spark Mini shines as a portable practice amp and Bluetooth speaker, earning four out of five stars for each role with its portability, clarity, and bass response. However, it falters as a recording amp, particularly for Android users, due to frustrating connectivity issues and low output levels. The inability to mix amp heads and cabinets further limits its appeal, and the app's usability, marred by in-app purchases and small controls, leaves something to be desired. While it's a handy practice tool, recording enthusiasts might find more satisfaction elsewhere unless future updates address these concerns.

Positive Grid Spark Mini Review: Best Portable Guitar Amp | WIRED

wired.com

With a punchy 9/10 rating, the Positive Grid Spark Mini is a versatile delight for guitarists on the go. This compact amp and Bluetooth speaker combo boasts impressive sound quality, ease of use, and a treasure trove of sound presets via its app. Although its eight-hour battery life could be better, it remains a portable powerhouse for non-studio jams. Whether you're playing electric guitar or bass, its tone quality shines, even if it lacks the full oomph of larger amps. Ideal for solo play outside your usual practice space, it's a guitar tool that's hard to beat under $200.

POSITIVE GRID SPARK MINI | REVIEW - Guitar Interactive Magazine

guitarinteractivemagazine.com

The Positive Grid Spark Mini is more than just a pocket-sized powerhouse; it's an absolute game-changer for guitarists on the go. This tiny titan packs an impressive punch with its stereo speakers and omnidirectional bass woofer, delivering a surprisingly big sound for its size. It's not just an amp, it's a fully-fledged Bluetooth speaker and a treasure trove of tones thanks to its smart app integration and Positive Grid's Bias software. Whether you're jamming at home, rehearsing in tight spaces, or taking it on urban adventures, the Spark Mini shines bright with its flexibility and sound quality. However, while it covers nearly all bases, the limited number of onboard presets might leave some tone-tweakers longing for more direct access without the app. Overall, this amp is a must-have for any guitarist who values portability without sacrificing sound.

The best mini amp ever!

I got this exactly on January 3, 2023, as my mini Marshall amp got busted months before (probably around October of 2022? ), and a year later, I'm still using it to this very moment. I've experimented with many sounds, effects, etc., and I still can't get enough of it! I've brought mine to a convention to record videos and brought it everywhere I need it to be. It's a perfect practice amp and a perfect amp for those performances or gigs where you'd want a tiny amp. The amp is small, but it packs a huge punch, and it's also very versatile, so 5/5, one of the best portable amps ever. :D
