Review: IK Multimedia T-RackS Black 76 & White 2A - Everything Recording

everythingrecording.com

IK Multimedia's T-RackS Black 76 and White 2A impress with their faithful emulations of the iconic 1176 and LA-2A compressors. The Black 76 adds instant smoothness and bass response to any track, while the White 2A offers warm, buttery compression, excelling on vocals and bass. Both plugins deliver stellar results with minimal tweaking, making them user-friendly and efficient. Despite being budget-friendly, they rival more expensive counterparts from Waves and Universal Audio, even offering mid/side mode. A must-have for those seeking quality compression without breaking the bank.

IK Multimedia Black 76 & White 2A

soundonsound.com

IK Multimedia’s T-RackS Black 76 Limiting Amplifier impresses as a stellar emulation of the classic 1176 compressor, offering versatile mono, stereo, and M/S modes. It can add musical character to vocals, drums, and guitars, with a distinctive "nuke" setting for added grit. While it holds its own against Universal Audio’s official emulations, it lacks a bit of their clarity. Nevertheless, its affordability and additional features make it a strong contender for those seeking vintage compression without breaking the bank. If you’re without a classic compressor emulation, this one's worth a look.

meh

I got this free during a promotion.... its not my favorite 1176 emualtion. I would not pay for it over the waves or purple... It does fast fet compression with some saturation and coloration of the signal though. It doesn't sound bad.... also I'm not that fond of the whole t racks setup anyway.
