Logic Pro's monster synth: The ultimate guide to Alchemy (Part 1) | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Alchemy in Apple Logic Pro X is a powerhouse synth that combines additive, granular, and spectral synthesis, offering a unique tonal palette. The interface is lauded for balancing complexity with accessibility, making it suitable for both novices and seasoned users. However, its depth can be overwhelming for those not willing to dig into its extensive features. Despite this, its inclusion as a stock plugin gives Logic Pro a significant edge over competitors. Best software synthesizer ever !

I use the great Camel Audio synthesizer since 2010 and I own every sound library which is ever made. Right from the beginning I use the great Alchemy in almost every track I made in several projects. The Alchemy has never made me bored and it always suprises me again. I need at least 100 years more to get everything out of it, the possibilities are endless. I like Re-synthese as my fav synthese, it has all on board. This powerfull synth made my music for what it is 'my own style' without it my world would probably look very different these days. One note: unfortunatly Camel Audio deceased in 2015. In the meanwhile Logic has integrate Alchemy in Logic X but not in Logic 9. I Use Logic 9 and the latest old Alchemy version.

Really cool synth

Prior to the Apple take over, I only heard of this synth or of their many plugins. I came into production around the time they had dropped off the map. Obviously, I got this with the big 10.2.1 Logic update and it's a pretty awesome include. It's got a lot of stock sounds that sound really good. The pads seem really interesting. Most samples are quality and it's getting a lot of updates through Apple, which is great.

Excellent synthesizer

This is a part of logic now but it continues to be a very fun synthesizer to use. I play around with it more than actually record it but it is very inspiring.

Powerful!

This is insanely advanced for a stock synth, and it's good looking visually! The downside is the way it's organized... the layout is unlike any other synth of it's type.

Mediocre Synthesizer to say the least

Very difficult and frustrating. Hard to navigate as well.

Spectrasonics Studio List The equipment list for the Spectrasonics studio reads like a gear-head's dream. Favourites amongst Eric's sizeable synthesizer collection include the Access Virus, the Prophet VS, his collection of Waldorf synthesizers, and a 1976 Yamaha CS80. "It's my favourite axe to play, because of the awesome polyphonic aftertouch and that sensuous ribbon," explains Eric.

For effects processing Eric is a fan of the Roland SRV330 reverb, an item that "gets missed by most people, mainly because it doesn't say Lexicon on the front panel." For distortion tricks Eric often uses a rare Boss GL100 guitar preamp: "It's basically the history of Boss pedals in one rack space."

Mixing, until recently, was done on some "very odd, custom-made analogue mixers made by a guy named Mo West," reveals Eric. He recently purchased a Roland VM 7000-series mixer, however, taking him one step closer to an all-digital setup.
