Pittsburgh Modular – Lifeforms System 201 Modular Synthesizer | Juno Daily

juno.co.uk

The Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms System 201 impresses as a semi-modular synthesizer that bridges the gap between standalone instruments and complex modular setups. With its SV-1 and KB-1 modules housed in a portable Eurorack frame, it offers a rich array of sound possibilities. The system's flexibility allows for immersive sound experimentation, boasting clear, sharp, and powerful tones akin to Moog's warmth. The user-friendly interface, with features like a touch-sensitive keyboard and an engaging filter, makes it a great entry point for beginners, while its modular potential captivates experienced users. Despite its immersive potential, the setup requires initial patching, which might not suit those desiring instant playability. Overall, the System 201 is a compelling tool for both newcomers and modular enthusiasts seeking a versatile and creative sound palette.

Freaky modular synth system that's a perfect entry into the modular world.

I've had this about 4 days now and it astonishes me. In some ways, it sounds better than my Moog Sub 37. I hear formant and granular sounds in it, short wave frequency squelching, all kinds of incredible tones. Once you get used to patching it, and learning how to operate the keyboard, sequencer, and arpeggiator, off you go into wild realms of analog modular mayhem.

yeah I got a microvolt last year and its such a wild card... but the overall timbrality is just very rich for a singlesocillator, even an unfolded sign, its just FULL
