A golden opportunity for shredders with little to no money!
Randall amps are catered more specifically towards metal, hard rock, thrash, speed, shred, etc. Their recent line of Solid State RG amps are very budget-friendly (my RG 1503 Head was only $250!) Quite possibly the best option for shredders who have little to no money; more importantly they sound really good quiet or loud. The high gain distortion is very nice and crunchy, the eq section is well defined and provides great room for tone shaping. The reverb is almost non-existent but I don't consider that a huge flaw because these are meant for high gain distortion, not cleans and reverb. There are only a couple small complaints that could have made this thing literally perfect, the "bass boost" and "mid-scoop". Randall corps manuals for these literally mention the bass boost can "cause speaker damage when used with bass turned up"...WHY KNOWINGLY INSTALL SOMETHING IN THE UNIT IF IT POTENTIALLY CAUSES SPEAKER DAMAGE!? The bass boost should have been fixed because it does make good metal tone and more importantly there should never be potential risk of speaker damage. The mid-scoop is not ideal, it will dampen your tone and cause a muffled sound. The mid-scoop should have been scrapped altogether and replaced with a treble boost.
