Description
The 450 Series II Dynamic Desktop Microphone by Shure
The Shure 450 Series II is a rugged dynamic desktop microphone designed primarily for paging, dispatching, and voice communication systems in schools, offices, warehouses, and industrial environments. It features an omnidirectional pickup pattern and a frequency response tailored for clear speech intelligibility, making announcements and communication easy to understand. A locking press‑to‑talk (PTT) switch lets you either hold to speak or lock the mic “on” for extended messages. The unit also includes a dual‑impedance switch, allowing selection between high and low output impedances to match different systems. Built with a tough ARMO‑DUR® case and adjustable height, it’s made to withstand heavy use. Though now discontinued, it remains known for reliability in fixed communication installations.

Good overall mic, Great for radio vocals!
I use this mic in my band for a radio effect on vocals, it is amazingly good at cancelling background noise, making it great for studio or live situations! While I had to change the connector to make it XLR, it was definitely worth it, it has a lo-fi effect just naturally, but still great clarity, it has a PTT (push to talk) button, which you can lock in place so you don't have to press it to use it, these are commonly used in schools, but I feel they should be more common in studios, they're also great as a talkback mic. In conclusion, worth the money!
Preferred Settings + Usage:
I like to boost the lows and mids and cut the highs to make it a little rounder and warmer.
