Did you run her at the wrong impedance? because an output transformer shouldn't blow out unless its underspecced or mis-connected....

jimmarchi1 I've been using her with the Subzero G410. We found that there was trouble in the winding and a whole load of dry joints. after replacing the transformer she's been fine.

huh, just a bad batch of transformers, WEIRD! Hope Sub Zero switches to a more reliable supplier. Good transformers are thin on the ground at good prices in these modern times of runaway inflation and Chinese manufacturing :-(

just a thought, but she looks like a Marshall 2204 with 6L6es and an effects loop to me... a 5F6/JTM45 circuit is 4 inputs, tube rectified, 3 preamp tubes for 2 channels... this definitely looks like 3 tubes for one channel with high and low inptuts and a master volume control like a 2204 or 2203... not that I am not a huge fan of the JCM800 range, used to swear by them! At heart a 50 watt 800 style circuit is just a gained up, tightened up bassman, but the small changes make a world of difference.

Guess bad batches can happen from time to time. This is actually the third head of this model i've had because the first one they sent out had fallen apart during transit, The Transformer pretty much beat the living crap out of everything inside, So they replaced it, With another one that was exactly the same. Everything inside was loose, If it needed tightened it would have been easily done but the chassis was actually beaten up. The third one they sent out was pristine, Except it didnt work. Turned out it was the transformer so i replaced it for a Marshall one that was 3 times the size, Although now extremely heavy, I do not regret the volume im getting!

its sad the lack of ruggedness in most factory amps these days, I once dropped a '63 Fender showman out of van and played the gig with it like nothing happened. They really used to build amplifiers to survive a war.

a 50 watt amp oughta have a pretty robust piece of iron in it , I think the modern Marshall transformers by drake look kinda wimpy by 70s/80s standards so its not like you are getting screwed going with an off beand, import amp... pretty much all the factory-made amps these days have ahd the compnents downgraded a bit, parts all board mounted, board thickness decreased and too many features jammed into a tight space... I have seen so many post-900-series marshalls go down on stages its not even funny anymore, but people keep buying them

Yeah, The actual box's are well enough made. It was kinda like they hadnt tightened anything and used rubber bands instead.
