Takamine TF250SMC review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

A handsome jumbo that earns its keep plugged in. MusicRadar praises the TF250SMC’s slick, fast neck, comfortable string spacing, classy styling and solid hardware, while Takamine’s Cool Tube preamp adds warmth, sweetness and a far more satisfying amplified tone than basic EQ alone. The catch: unplugged, it’s merely polite. The acoustic voice is bright and balanced but lacks real punch, bottoms out quickly under harder strumming, and the flat pickup tone starts off brittle before careful tweaking. There are also a few finish and build niggles, plus some inconsistent 12th-fret intonation on the review sample. Still, as a functional, sexy stage-ready electro-acoustic at the price, this one lands more hits than misses.
