According to this Epiphone article, in the late 1960s Jimi Hendrix acquired this Epiphone FT79 acoustic guitar. The guitar has serial #62262, and was built in NY in 1951 (original source [here](http://www.epiphone.com/News-Features/News/2010/Bonhams-to-Auction-Epiphone-FT79-Owned-by-Jimi-Hen.aspx)). The Bonhams auction site has this interesting note about the guitar: "Jimi Hendrix owned this guitar for a three-year period (longer than any other documented Hendrix guitar)..."more

In an Intherview he said: Q:It's interesting that in 1965, despite being hugely successful by then, you chose to play a $175 Epiphone Texan for the Ed Sullivan performance of Yesterday… A:"The terrible thing about me is that I got locked in a mindset that I picked up from my dad. The guitar, a 1960 Gibson Epiphone Texan model, has been one of Case’s favorite guitars for many years, and was used extensively on her Fox Confessor album. She recently donated the guitar to Catamount Arts in support of the Northeast Kingdom regional arts center’s fundraising efforts. Paul Rigby and I used this a TON making “Fox Confessor”.
