Great
Nice to play. Tried different string types and reached tones from bright to warm. Nice plugged in or by itself. I believe the action could be a bit smaller to improve playability.
Excellent for middle to high level players
It holds great bright tone, without forgetting about the bass notes. I use it with .011 or .012 elixir strings, which make an amazing combination. It's great both for rehearsals and live presentation.

Katy Perry used a Taylor 114ce for her performance live at SXSW 2007. For the first ten seconds of the video, you can accurately see the guitar while Katy is strumming along to her song "Mannequin."
In Laufey's youtube cover of Moon River, she plays what is obviously a Taylor acoustic-electric cutaway guitar. It has a black pick guard and a cedar top. To the naked eye, the 114ce is indistinguishable from its more expensive counterparts (the 214, 314, 814, and so on.) However, it is clear that this is a 114ce because its truss rod cover is black instead of the same natural brown color as the headstock.

I recently got the chance to talk to both Jono and James at the Dublin gig about his Taylor 114-CE. From what I was told by Jono, James had to get a second guitar for touring due to humidity damaging the first one (Taylors are notorious for this, get insurance folks). I believe in the video above James is playing the Walnut version of the guitar. The one used on tour is the Sapele (Taylor 114-CE S) version of the guitar. Having played the guitar it is a beautiful piece, perfect for any intermediate-advanced player with the standard and notorious Taylor neck which allows for great action along the fret board. I hope this helps anyone on the hunt for the same guitar.
