Description

The Tone King Falcon Grande is a compelling blend of vintage tones and modern convenience. This 20W, 1x12" tube combo amp exudes a remarkable array of vintage American sounds, delivered through a simple yet effective set of controls. A volume control, a single tone knob, and a 3-position voicing switch work in harmony to offer a sonic palette ranging from 'lux-style clarity to singing tweed compression.

The Falcon Grande's 3-position voicing switch is a gateway to the past, unlocking Rhythm, Tweed, and Lead tones reminiscent of revered vintage amps. Each setting progressively thickens, moving from clear articulation to warm compression and finally to a singing overdrive, perfect for solos.

The Falcon Grande loves to be cranked, but we understand that's not always possible. That's where the onboard Ironman II reactive load power attenuator comes into play. This feature allows you to achieve power amp saturation at manageable volume levels, ensuring your perfect tone can be maintained at any volume.

Finally, the Falcon Grande features a custom-voiced 12" Eminence speaker housed in a specially tuned cabinet. The cabinet's Acoustic Lens technology works to tame harsh high frequencies, delivering a balanced tone with rich lows, clear mids, and smooth highs.

Key Features:

  • 20-watt tube amp with 3 switchable vintage voicings
  • Tweed, Rhythm, and Lead voicings offer varying headroom and tonal characteristics
  • 1 x 12" custom-voiced Eminence speaker
  • Onboard spring reverb is tunable with Mix and Dwell controls
  • Ironman II power attenuator brings the cranked Falcon Grande to a manageable level
  • Included 4-button footswitch selects voicings and engages the reverb

Critic Reviews

Tone King Falcon Grande review

guitar.com

The Tone King Falcon Grande impresses with its vintage aesthetics and versatile sonic capabilities, offering retro-inspired tones with modern engineering. Its standout features include a reactive attenuator and a three-mode switch that caters to diverse musical styles, from silky treble to aggressive overdrive. While the reverb may not appeal to everyone, potentially overshadowing the amp's tonal nuances, the overall build quality and sound versatility make it a compelling choice. The lack of a footswitchable attenuator is a minor drawback, but the amp's distinct modes, combined with the quality Ironman attenuator, provide considerable value.

A wonderful but dark amp

This is a wonderful but quite dark amp (nothing an EQ pedal can’t fix). Very versatile given the three modes and the built-in attenuation levels which allow for very quite playing or for a full-throated 20W experience.
