The beast
Awesome synth that I use A LOT. Not being a sound design expert by any means I mostly use the presets (which there are a lot of good ones), and then tweak them to my liking. The lead sounds from my songs 'Last Summer' and 'Harmony' has been made by me loading a voice sample into the Noise section of the synth and then adding compression and reverb through the built in FX rack.

Heads and Shoulders above the rest!!!
In recent years, many have tried to knock this beast off it's perch, however none have succeeded. The Synth that has come closest to doing so is Phase Plant.... But even that has not managed to knock serum out of the running. I have used this synth since i bought it in march, and i must say, IT IS A BEAST! For me, even the likes of Phase Plant can't live up to the legendary name that is serum.

best softsynth on the market, hands down
i've used Massive and FM8 in the past which are great synths, but they have there own distinct sound which they are really good at creating but restricts how you can use them. i bought serum due to good reviews from other people and i use this in every single one of my productions now, and is my absolute go-to from now on. the main thing that makes this synth so good is how versatile it is. the option to be able to use your own custom wavetables makes you sound different from other people which is what really restricts other softsynths out there. you can make this thing sound as big or as small as you want it to, and that's really why Serum is so widely used

Best out there!
I used the Demo for a few years but one day it just had an error and switched itself to full version. I couldn't find any contacts for XFer so I just keep it as it is. Would definitely be worth the 180 USD$!

Overrated.
An overrated synth driven by the fact is has a large amount of presets, and proceding Massive from the tsunami of dubstep hype as wavetables made creating complex growly sequences a lot easier. Aside from it's superb wavetable capability, it's simply lackluster overall in 2021 where there are far better alternatives for similar price or less. Alongside it's lack of support and updates that are just spring cleaning extreme minor additions and bugfixes.
Buy something else, don't give into the hype unless you just want a synth that has a ton of user presets.

Versatility at it's Best
Serum is easily the most popular new soft synth to come out during the 2010s, and for a reason. The number of sounds possible with this synth seems to be infinite. While many get trapped in a cycle of reusing sounds, an explorer can find the most unique combination of settings and waveforms to create sounds like no other.

One of the finest
It's number 1 on Equipboard for a reason. Tons of possibilities, sky is the limit and even if you're not into complex sound engineering - you will find lots of presets and support for any genre. This one is a nobrainer and alongside with Sylenth1 my favorite VST.

Extremely powerful
The sheer intuition and power of this wavetable synth (especially being able to create your own) allows for limitless creativity. The only real pitfall is the CPU intensiveness of the synth, so any sound I can make in Sytrus, Harmor or Synth1 easily, I use those instead and save this for later when I really need the firepower.

Really cool stuff!
Okay, serum is something you would definitely want to have! Be it dubstep, future bass, progressive house, or hip hop, or even classical : You can make literally anything you want, with the right knowledge on how to use it. It has a cool interface and its in built effects and also powerful. It saves so much automation. But enough of its pros. It does have some cons.. I only wished there were more macro, more assignable LFO, but it does not make much of a difference.. Overall, I would rate it 4.8/5.0.. Definitely a must have! ( But dont pirate it :P) I got my serum from splice's 20$ a month plan. And it costs 150 USD.. How less can you ask of such a nice synth! Also, before messing around with it, I recommend you to read the serum manual. The manual will make you set to use serum like a pro!

Vital is free and open source, and has a workflow very inspired by Serum. Vital even has more powerful synthesis capabilities, but its effects, while solid, do not get as crazy as Serum FX, and it is much more CPU intensive.

This is what Hans Zimmer uses! I every now and then play around with it, and there's so much to learn. It's great in quality, but because it's so awesome, it can be a bit confusing at times.
