Critic Reviews

GForce ImpOSCar 2

soundonsound.com

The GForce impOSCar2 synthesizer impresses with its rich sound and expanded features that build upon the original OSCar's legacy. Enhanced with additional modulation options, external audio input, and an improved effects section, it offers a versatile sound palette. However, the interface can be unintuitive, requiring a learning curve, and the patch management system could be more user-friendly. The optional IMP2C controller enhances the experience but comes at a high cost. Despite some minor stability issues, the impOSCar2 delivers exceptional sound quality and flexibility, making it a worthy update for synthesis enthusiasts.

GForce impOSCar 2 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

GForce Software's impOSCar2 impresses with its stunning sonic capabilities and massive unison mode, expanding the possibilities of its predecessor. The addition of a huge patch library, new Aux Mod section, and luxury standalone controller are standout features. However, the absence of a reverb effect and a potentially intimidating interface might deter some users. Overall, the impOSCar2 is a robust evolution of a classic, offering a refined and versatile sound palette, making it a laudable choice for synth enthusiasts seeking depth and character in their music.

GForce Software - ImpOscar 2 · Tech Review ⟋ RA

ra.co

GForce's impOSCar2 is a remarkable evolution of its predecessor, enhancing its capabilities with features like Unison mode and expanded polyphony. It now offers rich, detailed sounds beyond its dance-synth origins, enabling complex textures and atmospheres. The effects section, while effective, suffers from a small access button, which could be improved for user convenience. Despite purist concerns about straying from the original OSCar's character, the impOSCar2's modern updates make it a versatile and invaluable tool for producers. Overall, it balances nostalgia with innovative functionality, making it a compelling choice for sound designers.

During the Delta Machines tour, DM's keyboard tech Paul Eastman informed MusicRadar... "Sample wise we're using Native Instruments Kontakt and Massive a lot too. We're also using a lot of GMedia ImpOSCar and Synthogy Ivory for pianos too. There are some sounds you can't get with the synths, so we use the samples for those, but there's a lot we can do and we try to use the synths as much as possible. Stripped is a good example of that. The big lead sound is Massive and ImpOSCar all layered up to create that main riff sound."
