Yamaha P155 Review | Digital Piano Review Guide

digitalpianoreviewguide.com

The Yamaha P-155 is a standout in the digital piano market, offering excellent sound quality with its upgraded 12-watt speakers and a remarkable 128-note polyphony. Its Graded Hammer Action keys provide a realistic feel, making it a joy to play. The addition of a fourth layer to the AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling enhances its grand piano sound, especially when amplified. However, its hefty 41-pound weight makes portability a challenge. While the P-155 is priced at $1,700, savvy shoppers can find it for as low as $1,200, making it a great choice for those seeking a robust, feature-rich digital piano without breaking the bank.

Yamaha P155 Review [After Daily Use]

bestdigitalpiano.net

The Yamaha P155 Digital Piano strikes a fine balance between affordability and authentic sound, echoing the rich tones of an acoustic piano without the hefty price tag. It's simple and user-friendly, making it a solid choice for beginners. While it lacks advanced features, like extensive recording capabilities, and the feel isn't entirely akin to an acoustic, it still outshines many peers in its price range. The mahogany design adds a touch of elegance, and though its key weighting lags slightly behind competitors like Casio’s PX850, its durability and fun factor make it a delightful addition to any home.

REVIEW - Yamaha P155 & Kawai EP3 Digital Pianos

azpianoreviews.com

The Yamaha P-155 offers a robust digital piano experience with solid build quality and good internal speakers but struggles with a heavier key action, especially in the upper octaves, which may not appeal to players seeking a more fluid touch. Its aesthetic appeal and 128-note polyphony are commendable; however, it lacks the versatility and additional features of its competitor, the Kawai EP3, such as better key action, superior built-in audio, and more realistic instrument tones. While the P-155 is a strong contender, it may not be the top choice for those prioritizing key action and sound realism.

High quality and versatile, at least in terms of the piano sounds

I've had the P155 since early 2014, upgrading from a P70, and it's served me well since. It includes two primary piano samples, the first of which sounds amazing and is a full concert grand, while the second is a bit brighter and is good for popular music. You can choose between brilliance settings of bright, normal, and mellow for both. Also available are chorus, phaser, tremolo, and rotary settings, which you can increase or decrease the effects of. That said, the rest of the sound samples, i.e. the organs, electric pianos, strings, etc., are pretty forgettable, and are not the reason to get this thing. Newer models of Yamaha digitals have been released by now, but the P155 is still a high quality instrument that will hold up for a very long time.
