Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about ZCAT Pedals Hold-Reverb.

Features and functionality

  • The hold button offers selectable momentary or latching modes, with an intuitive stomp-to-latch and stomp-to-unlatch system different from EHX Freeze.

    Source
  • The pedal cannot go 100% wet; the dry signal is necessary to feed the wet signal, but independent volume controls are available.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Compared to the Old Blood Noise Endeavors Procession, the ZCat Hold offers independent level controls and selectable latching, while the Procession uses a mix knob and only momentary hold.

    Source

User experience

  • The pedal's sound quality includes slow modulation on tails and deep reverb, described as beautiful and less ambient, suited for simulating big, dead spaces.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The hold function is likened to sampling a short time and adding reverb, ideal for natural soundscapes rather than synthesized notes.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • The pedal utilizes the Spin FV-1 chip, which allows for programming custom sounds if users are familiar with Assembly and DSP.

Better than Freeze

I prefer it over the Freeze, cause instead of generating a synthetic wave, it produces a real sound sample of the guitar sound. A kind of mini loop that can stay forever in background.. really organic and intuitive.
