Good for bedroom

As the tubes get warmer, they give warmer tones. Especially the clean channel gives surprisingly good sound. Also you can access high gain tones in the overdrive channel without the need for a pedal. Moreover, you can access these sounds in the bedroom due to the master volume. Speaker quality could have been a little better along with all this.

A Nice, Powerful, Versatile Workhorse of an Amp For Modern Rock Players

For the record, I would more accurately rate this amp at 3.5 stars out of 5. Three sounds too low, but four would be too generous. With that said...

Some amplifier manufacturers are getting really good at packing a vast array of features into their products. And while this was largely window dressing for about a decade, today many of these features are very usable. However, the upshot of all the built-in technology is that many amps require a thorough reading of a Bible-sized manual to gain an understanding of the basic manual operation of your new gear.

This is where the HT-Studio 20 succeeds among its peers: Blackstar has hit a great balance between putting in enough features to appeal to guitarists who need versatility, while keeping the user interface clean and simple.

The control panel is very straightforward, with each channel on its own side. The Clean Channel controls are limited to Volume and Tone knobs. At first, I thought this would be very limiting, but after a little over a year with this amp, I can say that a well-voiced clean channel like this one really doesn't seem to need any additional options. I set the Volume where I want it based on the environment I'm in, and then I turn the Tone knob left to roll off the high end and increase the bass frequencies, or turn it to the right to dial in some more treble while taming the bass. It's that easy.

The Overdrive Channel is a little more complex, with its own Gain, Volume and EQ section. The HT-20 has a LOT of gain on tap, by the way--more than I will ever use. In this way, I can see why metal guys dig Blackstar's gear. However, I find that I'm able to keep that dial below 12 o'clock and summon everything from classic rock crunch to modern rock grind. Anything above that just seems egregious to me, but if you're looking for more, the Studio 20 has it.

Overall amazing amp for a well rounded guitar player that wants a versatile amp, and the classic Marshall like high gain overdrive

This is a great amp for about any style of guitar playing. The clean sound is where the amp really stands out. The way I can describe it is, the perfect harmony of Marshall and Mesa Boogie sound on clean. The ISF and tone settings make this amp very versatile, and can cater to anyone. This amp is unrivaled in its price point just because it is so well rounded. Just in case you didn't know, it allows for additional cabs to be added even to the combo. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to upgrade to their second amp. If you have an overdrive pedal now, you will not need one after using the build in overdrive on this amp.

A Glorious Amp

I can't say anything bad about this Amp. It's a wonderful piece of kit, with so much range. Blues, Rock, Metal, Jazz. It's pretty much perfect for most genres.

Extremely versatile, easy to dial in.

This amp is extremely versatile, but the control set is simple enough that you don't have to be an experienced sound engineer to dial in the tone you want. The digital reverb is surprisingly good, and the speaker emulated output is a godsend for home recording if you live in an apartment.

For folks who find the Fender blues Junior too boxy, and the Vox AC 15 too voxy, this is a great alternative option, especially for more modern style players. The clean channel has plenty of headroom even at small gig volumes, and takes pedals extremely well. The gain channel is great for modern rock sounds.

Great tone

I’ve only had this a few weeks, it has a great tone on both channels. I’ll be mainly using channel 1 with my pedals, but the overdrive channel sounds. Similar tone to the Blackstar Artist 15 that I used, but the overdrive channel doesn’t clean up as well.

Great Tube Amp

The HT20C does classic crunch tones insanely well! I love it. The only thing it's lacking would be the tight gain in the distorted channel; when you really amp up the gain, the distortion gets loose and a bit floppy.
