JCM 800 Clean

The clean channel gives my 1986 JCM 800 4104 a run for its money (well, no it doesn't, but it is really good).

It's crystal clear, and noiseless in the background. Although it doesn't have the mighty punch at higher volumes like the JCM, -what amp does??? -But that's okay, just finding a close substitute is awesome. The response in the Club 40 II is remarkably spot on. The OD is aggressive and dynamic, and the controls on the amp, simple but complete. Now I can keep my JCM 800 at home for the practice gigs (and limit it's exposure to damage and wear from gigging excessively), and not break my back loading up all the time. -And, keep my JCMish sound at the same time.

I'm going to dump the Seventy 80 within the month. Will update my review after I figure out with what and have played a bit.

First real tube amp

I had one of these a while ago as my first real tube amp for gigging and playing in a band setting. While looking back I might have been better off with a full half stack rig, this amp proved very useful and surprisingly powerful for its weight and size. Tone and volume was never a problem and the only reason why I did eventually replace it was because only having 1 speaker was starting to limit my use of effects. Otherwise I was impressed with the design and quality of Blackstar's products.

Tubes for Days.

I'm fairly certain that Blackstar's business practice is world domination as it pertains to guitar amps. I've played on Fender tube amps (Blues Jr) and even the Mesa Boogie Mk V, and all I can say is that this thing brings a little tear to the corner of my eye each end every time my neighbors bang on their ceiling to let me know that I'm being too damn loud.

This was, of course, after I replaced the trash stock speaker with a Celestion Vintage 30. The stock speaker holds this amp back and is a shame, but that is how they keep their price so enticing for what you get.

Pretty loud.

This amp is really good It's loud and good for gigging. but there are a couple flaws to it. First of all, it is VERY heavy, so i recommend getting casters for it. Also it only has an EQ for the gain channel, so if you want to find your "signature tone" then don't get this amp. I really like it though; it was my first tube amp so I would say its really good.

Vintage and Modern take on the classic British Marshall voice. Dual channel with ISF knob for varying tone parameter. More American or British. Clearer and louder than it's 20 watt younger brother.

Perfect replacement for my Hotrod DeVille

Light weight for a tube combo, don't need to drive the tubes hard to get some good hard rock distortion.
