Bare Knuckle Black Hawk review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Bare Knuckle's Black Hawk pickups deliver an active humbucker sound without the need for batteries, offering superb rock tones and crystal-clear clarity. Their design is versatile, fitting any string spacing and enhancing the guitar's aesthetics. The pickups excel in both full humbucker and coil-split modes, maintaining impressive note separation even under heavy distortion. While they have a lower DC output compared to some stock pickups, the Black Hawks provide a powerful and articulate sound, rivaling active EMGs. With no notable drawbacks, these pickups are a stellar choice for those seeking dynamic and punchy tones.

Killer tones!

Compressed low end that I look for effortlessly!

Passive but powerful these pack a punch!

Well defined leads

After having problems with too many nasally mid heavy amp heads and pickups, I finally ordered a set of these from Bare Knuckle and was not disappointed. These pickups have amazing clarity and cut through the mix unlike any other. I would recommend these to anyone playing lead guitar in a band but probably their Nail Bomb or Holy Divers to more rhythm/clean oriented players.

“One of my guitars has Bare Kuckle Black Hawks in it, and the other two have Bare Knuckle Aftermaths. I’m a big fan of Bare Knuckle pickups: they’re just really bright, punchy, good low end, incredible clarity, and they’re quite high output for passive pickups." - James Monteith
