Mods and upgrades

  • Swapping the stock 70/80 speakers for V30s enhances midrange punch, ideal for metal/rock, but may not significantly impact low volume home use.

    Source

Comparisons

  • V30s provide a colored, mid-focused sound compared to the balanced, high-definition nature of 70/80s, with V30s offering a distinct upper frequency edge.

    Source
  • The Marshall T75 speakers are described as having more low end and top end with less mids compared to the V30s, which are favored for cutting through a mix.

    Source
  • The Jet City JCA24S+ offers a mono/stereo switch, enabling two amps to be used simultaneously, which is perfect for practice or dual player setups.

    Source
  • A unique recording out feature on the Jet City JCA24S+ cabinet is noted, though concerns about shielding and potential buzz during recording are mentioned.

    Source

Build quality

  • The Blackstar HTV212 is constructed from interlocking birch, contributing to its durability and sound projection capabilities, according to one owner.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The Blackstar HTV212 with 70/80's speakers is chosen for its mellow highs and decent bass, suitable for clean tones in ambient and post-rock styles.

Versatile Mid-sized cab with Open Back

I broke down and picked one up to downsize from using Fender Cabs and Marshall 4x12's my whole life. This one has a open back with what I assume are the regular low-grade celestions. It sounds great honestly and it seems to be able to handle the 100 watt head through it. Downsizing from four speakers to two I don't notice any real loss of fullness (full stack being a different story). Cool modern design face to boot.
