The Bogner Uberschall 120-Watt Tube Guitar Amp Head is a powerhouse for distortion enthusiasts, delivering tight, compressed tones perfect for heavy music. Its standout gain channel and impressive low-end response make it a favorite for rock and metal players. While it excels in delivering powerful distortion, its versatility is limited by a basic clean channel and lack of features like built-in reverb or MIDI control. The amp's build quality is commendable, ensuring reliability even during intense performances. Overall, if your primary need is high-gain distortion, this amp is a top-tier choice, though it may not suit players seeking versatility.

Amazing amp! Powerful and fun!

If not a desert island amp, this is close. Definitely top three! It’s not known for cleans, but they’ll do. If you want to rock, then this amp has it in spades! So fun to play!

Bogner Uberschall

These have to have the tightest low end of any amp. Add a Tube Screamer and these are good to good.

#1:

This Bogner Uberschall is from the private collection of Billy Corgan.

This is the amp that is on all of the Zeitgeist album. You can see the markings on this unit that signifies that this was the main unit of the four he had—the others are available for sale as well, and were backups. He had two on the Zeitgeist tour, playing two heads through two cabinets each. Then, because you want redundancy, he added two more Ubershall heads as backups.

As you can imagine, this was a MASSIVE sound, especially considering that Billy's guitars were typically tuned in C-sharp Standard during this era.

This was the main amp used in the studio to record Zeitgeist, and it also went on tour with Corgan. Remarkably, it shows almost no sigsn of wear. The tolex is still unblemished, and it is structurally perfect.

This is a slightly older iteration of Uberschall than the other three Corgan had. This was his first, and somehow it has a very different character than the others. The lead channel is more open, with a more aggressive progression of gain. This is, hands down, one of the best amp heads to ever come through the Reverb office, even if only for the glorious lead channel. Everything works as it should.

#2:

This Bogner Uberschall is from the private collection of Billy Corgan.

This Bogner was the second amp in a pair.

This amp is extraordinarily clean, with almost zero signs of wear. It is in near-mint condition.

This two-channel head with a Master Volume can be earth-shattering, but it is also highly shapeable and tameable. The clean channel is mellow and warm, while the lead channel offers a smooth progression of syrupy drive, all with the bass response these amps are known for. Everything works as it should.

This amp head currently does not have a power cord included.

Weight: 48.6 lbs. (22.1 kg)

Backup 2:

This Bogner Uberschall is from the private collection of Billy Corgan.

According to Corgan, this was a backup Bogner head used on the Zeitgeist tour.

Being a backup head, this amp is still very clean. Some dust and one tiny speck of residue on the top, but otherwise excellent cosmetic condition.

Live and in the studio, Jones uses a blend of amps. Two favorites are a 1976 Marshall Super Bass and a Diezel VH-4 “blueface.” On the latter, he never switches out of the ultra-high-output third channel. During the recording of 2001’s Lateralus, he reportedly experimented with a vintage Sunn lead head, too, and for 2006’s 10,000 Days he blended his Super Bass and Diezel with a Bogner Uberschall and a Riveria Knucklehead. Jones drives all his amps hard to achieve his responsive tone. He also uses Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifiers and Marshall and Mesa cabs

All of the guitars on that record (REvolution) were recorded pretty straight forward and without a lot of overdubs or effects. There are two rhythm tracks on all of the songs, one done with a Bogner Uberschall and the other with a Diesel VH4. Both are really nice amps and very similar in tone.
