Catch of the Day: 1965 Burns Double Six - Fretboard Journal

fretboardjournal.com

The 1965 Burns Double Six is a vintage gem with unique charm and comfort, thanks to its wider neck and distinctive tones. However, it doesn't quite capture the signature jangle of its Rickenbacker counterpart, and its green sunburst finish might not appeal to everyone. The guitar's historical significance is notable, but its quality reportedly declined after the Baldwin acquisition. Overall, it's a collector's piece with niche appeal, priced at $1650.

Love it BUT

I love my Double SIx - that I got second hand from a guy who wouldn't post it and ended up getting a very low bid on ebay as a result. Bargain for me. Mine's the made-in-Korea reissue with the Gotoh type bridge, which as far as I'm concerned is a win. Sound from the pickups is incredible. Tone is fantastic. Wide neck is great for a 12 - but I'm used to classical so not a problem for me - may be for others. Only real problems are weight and size. It is HEAVY. And it's very big. makes a Strat look like a toy guitar. Not as popular as they deserve to be. Not even sure if they are still making them.

cool 60s 12 string sounds, but only if your ok with digging in to get them!

I love the cool 60s sounds I can get out of this guitar, although I will say it does take some setting up with the bridge and if I could do anything cutom to it I would get rid of the classical fretboard & the zero fret...love it though,

jimmarchi1

that zero fret thing is a big nod to Brian May, but its kinda pointless without a wang bar
