REVIEW - Casio CDP230 Digital Piano - Recommended

azpianoreviews.com

The Casio CDP-230R is an entry-level digital piano packed with features, making it a solid choice for beginners on a budget under $500. It boasts 88 weighted keys, an impressive array of 700 instrument sounds, and useful connectivity options. However, its key action can be noisy, and the piano sound, while adequate for novices, may sound digital and become unsatisfactory over time. The sustain pedal is basic, lacking half-pedaling capability. While it's not suited for serious students aiming for intermediate levels, the CDP-230R offers good value for casual use and beginners, especially if budget constraints are a priority.

Casio CDP-230 review

digitalpianoreviewguide.com

The Casio CDP-230R impresses with its value-packed offering, combining a robust 88-key Scaled Hammer-Action keyboard with a plethora of multimedia features for just $449. It's ideal for beginners, boasting 700 tones and 200 rhythms, along with Casio's Step-Up Lesson system for learners. While its 48-note polyphony is decent, it limits more complex classical pieces, and the keyboard can be noisy. Still, the CDP-230R shines in its price range, surpassing competitors like Yamaha in dynamic range and features. For those prioritizing digital versatility over raw piano authenticity, it's a compelling choice.

good for a full size studio keyboard

mostly use this for full scale piano score productions, and its perfect. the only reason i have a 4 star is the keys are sort of hard and the speakers arent good at all.

Nice starting digital piano

I used this for a while until I got my Triton Extreme 88. Nice starting digital, okay piano sound, pretty mediocre elsewhere. But you can't beat it for the price.

Really good for beginners at it's price

This digital piano is more of a keyboard with a good weighted keybed. The pianosounds and possibilities are very good for it's price. Great one for beginners. Midi only over USB, otherwise this would be a very nice master keyboard. When only using software instruments, it could still act as a very decent one.
