Critic Reviews

Review: Duesenberg Dragster + Starplayer TV Outlaw – Kitarablogi.com – Finland's premier Guitar and Bass blog

kitarablogi.com

Duesenberg impresses with the Starplayer TV Outlaw, blending vintage charm with German precision. Its stylish faux reptile finish and reliable Deluxe Tremola vibrato are highlights. The guitar delivers a balanced tone, thanks to its Domino singlecoil and Grand Vintage Humbucker. Playability is enhanced by a PLEK setup, making it a joy for long sessions. While it shines in rockabilly and crunchy tones, its compact body limits acoustic volume. Overall, it's a well-crafted semiacoustic that's as comfortable to play as it is eye-catching. Duesenberg's return is a welcome one, promising quality and flair.

He used this guitar during the recording of "Analog Man" as mentioned in this interview:

"Which guitars did you use on the album?"

"Well, let’s see. There’s some new guitars being made, that Mike Campbell from Tom Petty’s band introduced me to – Duesenbergs. I have a couple of ’em – a Double Cat and a DTV Outlaw. They’re like a Les Paul, but a hollowbody with their own vibrato tailpiece. I’ve got one of the radical ones, and it’s pretty nice. They wind their own pickups, which are great, and record great."
