Review: DW LowPro Travel Kit - DRUM! Magazine

drummagazine.com

The DW LowPro Travel Kit impresses with its elegant look and surprising sound quality, making it perfect for cocktail gigs and lightweight travel. Its portability is a standout feature, fitting in small spaces and weighing just 29 pounds. However, the case lacks room for essential extras like a hi-hat stand. The versatile "Snom" adds unique tones, though its small size limits brush work. Overall, this kit combines portability, sound, and style, earning high marks for its intended use.

DW Performance Series Review: Drum Kit | DRUM! Magazine

drummagazine.com

The DW Performance Series Drum Kit strikes a fine balance between affordability and professional quality, offering a solid alternative to the high-end DW Collector's series. With robust North American maple shells and innovative HVX design, the kit provides rich tonal quality, particularly in toms. The meticulous attention to hardware details like True-Pitch tension screws and STM suspension mounts further enhance its appeal. However, while the drumheads and bass drum offer a durable, punchy sound, tuning can be finicky due to the unique tension screws. Despite this, the kit's overall construction and finish, especially in the eye-catching Sapphire Blue, make it an enviable choice for drummers seeking DW prestige on a budget.

"After 18 years at Yamaha I have decided to move on. I feel that DW is the company that can take me, and my evolution as an artist, to the next level. They are truly an amazing company that are at the forefront of innovation and are making huge leaps in the advancement of the instrument.
