Build quality

  • Egnater amps, including the Renegade, are not considered the best built, but their innovative features were notable at release.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • While not ideal for pedal platforms, a good overdrive pedal like a Tube Screamer can enhance its high-gain capabilities for classic rock and metal.

    Source
  • The amp is favored for classic rock sounds, delivering a warm, articulate tone that's less suited for metal.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Compared to the Egnater Rebel 30, the Renegade provides a more stable clean platform with less breakup, better suited for pedal integration.

    Source
  • While Egnater is praised for its tone, it’s often compared unfavorably to high-end brands like Matchless in terms of build quality.

The Egnater Renegade Amplifier Head is a versatile powerhouse, offering a blend of British and American tonal characteristics with its Tube Mix feature. Its flexibility is enhanced by dual preamp sections with independent controls, catering to both clean and aggressive tones. The amp's aesthetic and practical design, including unique voicing switches and convenient bias adjustments, make it user-friendly. "I’ve been a part of the Egnater family for six or seven years, when they were making the amps out of a garage. A buddy of mine introduced me to them. They brought me over the Renegade. I love it! It’s been a part of my rig for the past six years. I actually just had a conversation with a producer/engineer buddy in Chicago and he said ‘You’ve never let go of that head.’ I don’t know if it’s just that I’m so used to it, but I love it. I’m full Egnater up and down, all over the place. And they’re really good to me. It sounds good for my style."
