Description
Unlock a world of sonic possibilities with the Electro-Harmonix Pico Deep Freeze, a game-changing addition to your pedalboard. This compact powerhouse combines the sustain technology of the Freeze pedal and the fluid glissandos of the Superego in an intuitive and versatile package. Whether you're looking to sustain chords and notes for atmospheric backdrops or explore uncharted tonal territories, the Pico Deep Freeze has you covered.
With three distinct modes—Latch, Moment, and Auto—the Deep Freeze offers unmatched functionality. Latch mode lets you sustain sound with a simple tap, while Moment mode holds the sound only as long as you keep your foot on the switch. Auto mode takes it a step further, automatically capturing and freezing sounds based on your playing dynamics. This pedal is designed for musicians who love to experiment and challenge the norms.
The Deep Freeze provides comprehensive control over your sound. Tailor your effect with separate Dry and Effect volume knobs, while the Speed/Layer control lets you adjust attack/decay times or manage layering in Latch mode. The Gliss knob introduces seamless transitions between frozen sounds, akin to a portamento effect on synthesizers. With its multiple bypass modes and included power adapter, the Pico Deep Freeze is ready to elevate your musical expression.

Capricious due to its position in the chain. Dry sound
I couldn't get it to work.
It either worked well with a clean signal or only with a distorted one, depending on whether it was placed at the beginning or end of the chain.
Moreover, unlike the classic Electro-Harmonix Freeze Sound Retainer (which produces a lively, vibrant sound), the Pico Deep Freeze produced a very dry sound... powerful, but dry, not lively.
Maybe I got a defective version? I don't know, as I only tried one and sent it back to the store.
