Amazing Machine
Absolutely love this thing. The New update made it even better!
This is the brain of my DAW-less rig and I don't know if I could ever go back... that being said, it has its limitations (Monophonic tracks, some function automation only happens by switching parts, could have more MIDI ports or CV, etc.) but if you pair it with the right gear, you can do countless things. Great with the Monologue's Microtuning function. I run the Cue output through effects pedals, including a synced EHX looper and alternate between tracks on the Octa and freeform loops with just the pedals.
Top 3 Sampler
In my opinion it’s the perfect Sampler/Midi Controller for my personal needs. With the Octatrack You can do basically whatever you want in terms of sound creating an forming. Via midi you can upgrade every old synth that has a good midi implementation with one of the best sequencers (Elektron) on the planet. It’s one of my top 5 machines.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
The Scenes Mode is crazy and the Parts are helpful as well.

Complex but worth the effort
A very deep box with a lot of limitations, but for something that’s been around this long and still be relevant says a lot for the depth of this piece of hardware.

but why is it worth it?
213
For me it's worth it because it can generate ideas super fast. It can also play full stems so you can play your live set easily. It's also a capable looper, not to mention midi sequencer, sound mangler, effects box, etc...

that explains why this thing is so popular as a live performance hub. thank you for the reply!

Outstanding
A phenomenal machine that creates its own rules. I like the way it has a bit of a lo-fi sound. At the moment, it is my favorite instrument.

Steep, steep learning curve ( otherwise 5 stars )
But once you get there it's a beautiful piece of kit. From what I read if you can work with the OT you will have no issues with other Elektron gear. If you already own a piece of Elektron kit it should be familiar and more easy to ramp up.
