The guitar's 3-piece mahogany neck features a thin “U” contour for effortless navigation, while the ebony fingerboard and 22 extra-jumbo frets ensure smooth, expressive playability.
At the heart of the ESP Bill Kelliher Signature Guitar are the distinctive Mojotone Hellbender humbuckers. These pickups, known for their unique hybrid design, are crafted with separate wire gauges and a blend of Alnico II/Alnico V and ceramic magnets. This configuration offers a diverse tonal palette, making it equally capable of delivering crushing metal riffs or lush, clean tones with the gain dialed back. Designed by Bill to provide the wide range of tones needed for Mastodon’s music while being sturdy and reliable enough for his most punishing rhythms and brutal riffs throughout long tours, the Bill Kelliher ESP Eclipse is a traditional full body thickness guitar with no waist cut. Its three-piece mahogany neck is joined to the body with set-thru construction at 24.75” scale for smooth and comfortable fast access to the upper frets. It offers an ebony fingerboard with real shell“ESP Flag” inlays and 22 frets, as well as binding on the body, neck, and headstock. Its sound is generated with a set of customized Seymour Duncan Distortion pickups, the original high output humbucker with a massive ceramic magnet and hot coil windings to deliver full-bodied rock and metal tones that are controlled with master volume and tone knobs that each offer a push-pull control to split the bridge and neck pickups respectively.
