Fender Relic 1962 Telecaster Custom review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Fender '62 Reissue Telecaster Custom Shop Relic is a standout instrument for Telecaster enthusiasts seeking vintage charm paired with modern playability. Its stunning looks, excellent tones, and comfortable neck make it a joy to play. The relic finish, while divisive, is executed with finesse, making it hard to distinguish from genuine wear. However, the guitar's mint green pickguard appears slightly artificial, and the price tag is steep, potentially deterring budget-conscious buyers. Overall, this Telecaster is a prime choice for those willing to invest in a high-quality, visually striking instrument.

I have a Fender Custom Shop Telecaster based on a ’62. I also have a ’61 Gibson SG my girlfriend bought me. I string them with D’Addario NYXLs, gauged .010-.046. My amps are ’67 and ’68 blackface Fender Pro Reverbs. I have a Boss DM-2 Delay, a Wampler Ego Compressor, a Walrus Audio Plainsman for clean boosts, and, for overdrives, I currently use an Oddfellow Effects Caveman Drive and a Jetter Jetdrive. My tuner is a Sonic Research strobe.
