Description
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Stratocaster guitar, the Custom Shop is building the Limited Edition 1954 Strat®. These faithful replications will be made with the same exacting detail as the original instruments, using many of the same machines and manufacturing methods used 50 years ago. Every deep body contour, pickup magnet and screw is a replica of a 1954 Strat. We even went as far as having pre-CBS Fender® employee, Roger Centeno, stamp each tremolo cover plate with the original die. And, yes they do come complete with the round holes!
Each guitar will be built by a Custom Shop Master Builder and will feature a nitro-cellulose lacquered, two-piece ash body with offset glue seam and one-piece “U”-shape maple neck. Also, this limited release includes three new Custom Shop Vintage 1954 Stratocaster pickups, an original synchronized tremolo with “Ash Tray” bridge cover, bone nut, special documentation and an original form-fit Brown case.
This Closet Classic finished, 2-Color Sunburst limited release will be available from January 15 to December 31, 2004. You’ve waited 50 years for this day and we’ve taken every measure to make it worthwhile.

A September 29, 2010 The Echo article and a September 30, 2010 Total Guitar article record that a "signed '54 Anniversary Custom Fender Stratocaster" "formerly owned by Ronnie Wood" was put on eBay by one Alan Jones on behalf of Wood's former brother-in-law, Paul Karslake. The above picture, taken from the The Echo article, shows Jones with the guitar, which has Lace Sensor pickups in place of the stock "3 New Custom Shop Vintage 1954 Single-Coil Stratocaster Pickups with White ABS Covers".
The Echo, "Ronnie Wood's £110k guitar" by Mike Miners (September 29, 2010)
Alan Jones, 59, of Westbourne Grove, Westcliff, used to sell Rolls Royces and Bentleys, but has offered to try his hand selling the guitar as a favour to a friend.
The former sales manager with luxury car specialists Overtons, which used to trade where Leigh Broadway meets Leigh Road, has put the guitar on internet auction site Ebay, with a reserve price of £110,000.
Mr Jones explained: “Paul Karslake, Ronnie’s former brother-in-law, asked me to sell it a couple of weeks ago.
“Paul was given a few guitars by Ronnie and the listing on Ebay even points to a picture showing Ronnie playing it alongside Paul, who was singing, when they performed in Southend. I’m simply doing a mate a favour, but I’ll probably get a drink out of it.”
[...]
Mr Jones thinks the guitar, a Fender Stratocaster, may be the most expensive item ever sold on EBay He said: “Fender hand-build them for stars and in the neck of this guitar there is the signature of the maker, as well as Ronnie’s signature. It’s a piece of rock history.”
Total Guitar, "Ronnie Wood guitar hits eBay with £10,000 reserve" by Matthew Parker (September 30, 2010)
A guitar formerly owned by Ronnie Wood has landed on eBay after a falling out between the guitarist and his ex-brother-in-law Paul Karslake.
The signed '54 Anniversary Custom Fender Stratocaster, which was built for the Rolling Stone in 2004, has appeared on eBay with a reserve price of £10,000.
The guitar was signed "Smoke this! Ronnie Wood '07" and presented to Karslake in 2007, before the end of Wood's 23-year marriage to Karslake's sister, Jo Woods.
Since then the guitarist and his brother-in-law have ended their friendship, with Karslake (an artist by trade) memorably portraying Ronnie Wood as a vampire sucking his sister's blood in a painting last year.
It seems that the artist has now decided to rid himself of some of his Wood-related memorabilia and the Essex Echo is reporting that Karslake asked his friend, Alan Jones, to 'eBay' the item for him.
