Critic Reviews

Fender Modern Player Coronado review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Fender Modern Player Coronado stands out as an intriguing blend of classic aesthetics and modern playability, making it a compelling choice for indie rock enthusiasts. Its solid build and Gretsch-like tones cater well to contemporary sounds. However, vintage purists may find its departure from original specs less appealing, and some quality inconsistencies, such as a glossy neck finish, might detract from its charm. While it excels in providing a versatile range for effects-laden styles, it may not satisfy those seeking aggressive tones or upper-fret comfort. Overall, it’s a solid option but may not resonate with everyone.

A Great Semi-Hollow

I love how Fender attempted to fix some of the big complaints with the original Coronado! The Fideli'Trons sound nice and full, and the neck feel is great! The instrument is a bit heavy though, due to the massive center block, and both pickups, when their tone knobs are set to the same tone settings, don't differ very much in their tone. Despite these shortcomings, it is still a fun instrument to play, and it sounds great too!
