Fostex XR7

soundonsound.com

The Fostex XR-7 Multitracker impresses with its user-friendly design, making it perfect for newcomers to recording. Its ability to record on all four tracks simultaneously is a standout feature, offering flexibility often missing at this price point. The sound quality is commendable, with Dolby C noise reduction effectively minimizing unwanted noise. However, the unit's lightweight build can lead to accidental dislodgement, and the lack of a pause button and limited EQ options on certain channels could be drawbacks for some. Despite these minor issues, the XR-7 delivers robust performance and quality, making it a solid choice for budget-conscious musicians seeking professional-grade demos.

SO GOOOOD

My first Multitrack recorder I learn to record music with that machine.... I've since switched to digital for practical reasons. But I'm nostalgic for that old companion I gave to a young man who wanted to go back to full analog... ( he'll be 25 in 2026). I felt I had to give it to him...
