Description

Drawing inspiration from the classic Starfire II and III single-cut body shape, the Guild Starfire I SC Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar marries tradition with modernity. This instrument boasts a 2" thick hollow body enriched with a bridge block to enhance bridge stability and resonance. Crafted with a robust arched maple top, back, and sides, the Starfire I SC delivers the ethereal tonality of a hollow body instrument, complete with bright overtones and pronounced lows.

The 24-3/4" scale length, coupled with a modern thin "U" neck profile, ensures a fast, smooth-playing neck. Adding to its charm are the premium Guild Vintage 18 tuners and Tune-o-matic bridge, guaranteeing easy tuning and sustained pitch. The Guild's own HB-2 Alnico II humbuckers inject a dose of rich, vintage tone into this guitar, while the included push-pull coil-splitting feature allows for versatile single-coil tones from either pickup. This Starfire I SC is equipped with Guild’s premier vibrato tailpiece with a roller tension bar for additional tonal versatility.

Critic Reviews

Guild Starfire I DC and I SC GVT review | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

Guild's Starfire I SC Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar, with its striking Seafoam Green finish, offers a delightful blend of vintage charm and modern playability. The guitar’s build quality and classic voice, enhanced by coil-splitting capabilities, make it suitable for a variety of genres from jazz to rock. However, it does require some final setup adjustments to address tuning inconsistencies, and the opaque finish hides the materials used. While the sound is enjoyable, some may find it lacks character compared to higher-end models. Overall, it's a compelling choice for those seeking quality and aesthetics at an accessible price.

Guild Guitars Starfire I SC Review – Guitars For Idiots

guitarsforidiots.com

The Guild Starfire I SC semi-hollow guitar offers solid craftsmanship and an attractive Seafoam Green finish, but it struggles with tuning stability and lacks the resonance of its Jetstar counterpart. While its versatile sound caters well to jazz and punk alike, the pickups don't quite deliver the full richness expected. Playability is generally good, but the 20 frets may limit adventurous players. Priced competitively, this model serves as a reliable option for gigging musicians, though its quirks might deter some. Overall, it stands as a decent choice without quite reaching greatness.
