Kaye bought this guitar in the late 50s or early 60s. In a Facebook post, she explains that she took it to her tech, Milt Owen, to convert it to a 12-String guitar and replace the pickups with hotter ones.

She used it on several records, including a couple of tracks on the Beach Boys’ seminal album Pet Sounds. The guitar can be heard on “I’m Waiting For the Day” and “God Only Knows”.

She also claims to have used it on sessions for Sonny & Cher.

This short guitar interview was done on the behalf of Equipboard in 2017. Mr. Marshall Crenshaw kindly provided us with the quotes and photos of the gear he was using. One of the guitars was 1970s Guild CE-100D.

"Another of my main stage guitars right now, a Guild C-100d(sic) from 1970 or so. Sonically and physically, this one just works perfectly for me. For many years I played bolt-on neck guitars about 99% of the time; I've been veering away from that lately.."
