Description
Manufactured by The Harmony Company and sold through Sears, Robuck, & Company, the "Old Santa Fe" archtop acoustic guitar was produced in 1935 and 1936. It was a super auditorium sized guitar which featured a sproce top, and maple back and sides, ivoroid binding on the body and neck, a black pickguard edged in white, a nickle-plated trapeze tailpiece, and a height adjustable bridge. Its 14-fret neck was steel reinforced and featured round mother-of-pearl position markers. A replica of Gene Autry's signature was painted on the lower bout. A scene of a mission and the words "Old Santa Fe" were painted in the same color on the headstock. The guitar was produced as a tie-in for Autry's 1934 film, "In Old Santa Fe"
