This is my favorite guitar I have ever owned!

I own a candy apple red 1989 Ibanez Rg570 made in Fujigen, Japan and the biggest draw for me is the wizard neck and the over all "Mojo" this guitar sports. We all have that one guitar we play that just connects to us and this is mine! (I would give it a 4.5/5 but you cant so Ill settle for a 4/5)

Preferred Settings + Usage:

I use 10 gauge string in D standard tuning

Love the sound and ease of playing

I have only owned 5 guitars and am an intermediate player and after 30 years of goofing around practicing I'm finally doing some small gigs. This one has been my favorite since the day I got it back in the 90's, accounting for 90%+ of all of my guitar playing. I don't know much about guitars and equipment, but I do know that almost any other guitar I pick up has a thicker neck and just isn't as easy and smooth to play. It has incredible sustain and I can dial the sound in to match Santana or Satriani with my Peavy Amp. This sound just pleases me.

I had the serial number checked out and learned that mine is a pre-1992 Japan made guitar. That apparently is a good thing, along with having kept the original pickups, at least for resale value. I wouldn't change anything, except... the Floyd Rose is a pain. I have grown accustomed to it, and accept that it's part of the experience. I guess I could change that out, but I've been thinking I should just add another guitar instead.

Mentioned in this June 2000 Guitar interview and this November 2000 Guitarist interview.

Guitar, June 2000

'I've got two 550s, a 570 and an SCR model - that's a bit like the Satch thin-bodied one. It's really light and stealthy,' he details.

Guitarist, November 2000

So what stuff gets you through those studio sessions?

In the studio I use so many pedals - the entire new Ibanez range, a micro synth, loads of old sixties pedals. I have all Ibanez guitars, I endorse them and have always used them. I have a couple of RG550s and a few RG570s. My main live guitar is an SCR series Ibanez. They have a really stealth-like appearance which doesn't look too rock and they are really light.

My guitars are pretty much as they came out of the factory, although I recently had Ibanez remove the bridge and middle pickups and selector switch from one I never used them live. I recently had the Ibanez logo tattooed on my leg!
