Based on the classic MK1 Bender fuzz design of the mid 60’s. This sound can be found on the albums of Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton in the mid-60’s then later made famous by Mick Ronson – guitarist for David Bowie. This pedal gives you plenty of sustain, splat and crazy fuzz character to impress even the hardest of fuzz critics.The addition of the Tone, Gate and Cut controls gives the player full control of the character, feel and colour without taking away the classic fuzz sound found in the original design.The tone control is a simple addition to help control the bite of the fuzz with high headroom amplifiers. The gate control is part of the improved bias section of the pedal. Similar to the switch on my classic MK1 It will allow you to dial in the amount of splatter as the notes die out. The Original MK1’s were very gated so if you’re going for that sound, run the gate control low. The cut control is a switch that allows you to get the sounds found on the Zonk and FZ-1 style pedals. This control when used with the tone and gate will transform the pedal into a different beast. Using the Gate and Attack control together you can find a balance of clean up using the guitar volume control and tame any hiss. Start with both Attack and Gate at 12 o’clock and dial from there. This also can come in handy with temperature changes that the germanium transistors are sensitive too. This pedal uses a positively grounded case and it needs to be run from an isolated power supply, or battery. Not suitable for a daisy-chain power supply.
