Reviews

Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Korg MS2000BR.

Build quality

  • The power and MIDI connectors are prone to weak soldering, leading to connectivity issues; resoldering may be necessary over time.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The MS2000B is bitimbral, allowing two patches to play simultaneously, perfect for combining monophonic bass with a three-voice lead or pad.

    Source
  • The MS2000BR can be stacked with a MicroKorg to effectively double the polyphony, enhancing overall sound capabilities.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The MS2000B can recreate sounds from bands like Genghis Tron, although it has a digital edge compared to analog synths like the Sub37 and Prologue 16.

    Source
  • The Radias rack is considered a solid next iteration of the MS2000 sound engine, implying improved durability.

    Source
  • Though praised for its unique look, some owners find the MS2000 keyboard version redundant next to the rack version, which lacks the printed diagrams but saves space.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • A known issue is the sequencer drifting out of sync with an external MIDI clock, which Korg never corrected.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • It's noted for its ability to produce old-school jungle pads and surprisingly bassy sounds despite digital limitations.

    Source
  • The sequencer is particularly effective for creating dynamic pads and complex industrial sequences, offering a lot of movement and character in sound design.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Owners often replace the flimsy plastic knobs, either by ordering better ones or 3D printing custom replacements.

    Source
  • The use of independent mod sequencers via MIDI chaining adds experimental depth, allowing for varied sonic exploration beyond typical polyphonic setups.

    Source

User experience

  • One owner reports their MS2000R functioning reliably for five years without issues, suggesting variability in durability among units.

    Source
  • Many users find the MS2000BR becomes more valuable with increased synthesis knowledge, indicating a learning curve that enhances its utility over time.

Wonderful synth!

Just like the Korg MS2000R but the timing issue has been fixed and it has a new set of patches. Vocoder works great.
