Amazing for the price
Went into the store to compare 3 Mesa Boogie amps: Mini Rectifier, Recto-Verb 25 and Express 5:25. Was not expecting this amp to sound so alive, so shimmering in the clean channel, and so defined in the high gain channel (both vintage and modern modes). Was expecting to leave owning the Express, ended up just getting this one instead.
Also tried with a Mesa Tone Burst pedal on front just to push the amp (drive down, volume up, bit of low end rollback) and got a badass, tight and punchy metal tone. This from an amp that can get a nice rock tone without getting a front-end push, an overdriven tone (both more harsh on the vintage mode, or more subtle on the pushed mode), and a beautiful clean tone. Could not ask for more for the price.
Also, the 25W this is supposed to be sound HUGE. If you're micing the amp or playing in small to medium venues, this is the thing for you.
