Description

The MI Effects Crunch Box has become a modern-day classic that has garnered a loyal army of fans. We have re-designed the original and added new features to take this British stack-in-a-box to the next level!

For starters, the new Super Crunch Box features all the gain you could ever need. The 3 COMP settings give you 3 levels of clipping, from open classic crunch, sizzling ‘traditional’ Crunch Box to hot-rodded ‘Jose’ clipping. Paired with the new 3 position MODE switch opens up a world of tonal bliss, from the original high gain tones, the more detailed mid gain, and the brand new low gain mode, which is tailored for detailed single-coil duty, with a lightning fast, top end, and a remarkable touch sensitivity.

The original tone control has now been relabelled PRESENCE and handles the top end duty to match the high frequency response of the pedal to any clean channel, regardless of the notorious ‘treble bleed’ capacitor effect common in most clean channels. Does your amp sound dark, with no treble bleed cap? No problem. Crank the PRESENCE control. Does your amp sound super-bright, and makes typical overdrives sound ice-picky and brittle? Just roll off the PRESENCE control.

Besides the new 3rd gain mode, perhaps the most exciting addition to the Super Crunch Box is the new 3 BAND EQ. This is truly a unique design, utilising an active design, 3 isolated bands offering +/- 12db of cut and boost, and unlike standard active designs, are tuned to ‘classic plexi/800’ frequencies, for a perfect ‘philosophical’ match to the Super Crunch Box. Now, you have the familiarity of EQ bands of the classic British sound, but with the added power and precision of active design. Besides this, the EQ is designed in such a way as to never run out of headroom, which is a typical limitation of other poorly designed active EQs found in some pedals.

To top it all off, the new Super Crunch Box version 2 now operates at an even higher internal voltage for even more headroom. Also, the output impedance has been lowered to drive longer cable lengths without tonal degradation, and to better interface with virtually any other unit.

Want to take it up an extra step? Pair the Super Crunch Box with the Super Blues Pro. Since the tone shaping is similar to the Blues Pro, the duo make for a one-two punch for an infinite amount of drive possibilities.
