Description
The PAiA Drummer Boy 7701K is a preset drum machine manufactured as a home build kit by PAiA Electronics in the mid 1970s. It contains 11
different rhythms: Waltz, Vienna Waltz, Jazz Waltz, Polka, Fox Trot, Samba, Bossa Nova, Funk, Cha Cha, Rhumba, and Tango. More than one of the rhythm switches can be used at a time to produce unusual beats.
Operating either of switches S14, S15, and S16 removes the snare and substitutes the wood block, clave, or conga, respectively. However, neither of the switches takes precedence over the others. The conga-bass switch (S17) allows the substitution of a conga for the bass on any beat except the downbeat, where the bass drum is permanent. At the same time that the conga-bass switch substitutes the conga for the bass in a pattern, it also substitutes for the conga either the clave or wood block as selected by S18.
