    Source

  • The amp's clean channel provides ample headroom for pedals, making it suitable for diverse playing styles.

    Source
  • For home use, some owners recommend pairing the Archon with a 1w head that switches to 0.2w to manage volume levels.

PRS Archon Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The PRS Archon is a powerful contender in the metal amp market, praised for its robust build, exceptional clean tones, and brutal yet detailed overdrive. The amp's flexibility shines with its capacity for tonal variations, making it a top choice for hard rock and metal enthusiasts. However, the absence of onboard reverb is a notable drawback. Overall, the Archon's performance in delivering both clean and overdriven sounds earns it a positive nod from critics.

PRS Archon Amp - The Gear Gods Review - Gear Gods

geargods.net

The PRS Archon amp is a powerhouse for metal enthusiasts, delivering superb core sound with minimal tweaking required. Its simplicity is a boon, offering a straightforward EQ section that enhances its distinctive voice without overwhelming options. While not the most flexible amp, it stands out for its clean channel prowess and compatibility with flexible OD pedals for added tonal variety. The accompanying PRS Stealth 4x12 cabinet complements the amp perfectly, ensuring a well-matched sound. However, its lack of flexibility might deter those seeking more customizable options. Overall, the Archon is a stellar choice for those wanting a set-and-forget metal amp with a unique identity.

BEAST

I come from the "Mesa Boogie is KING" genre of music and time, but when I saw a demo of the Archon on YouTube I needed to hear it with my own ears. This amp RIPs high gain, full, warm and meaty tones for hard rock and modern metal. The cleans are very crisp and warm as well. My only con-s for this amazing and pricey amp are that it has only two channels. Clean and Lead. If PRS puts a third channel on this bad boy in the future it will be unstoppable.
