Description

The MBT Master Bus Transformer by Rupert Neve Designs

Rupert Neve Designs Master Bus Transformer (also known as the MBT) is a high-end analog stereo processing unit designed to add musical color, depth, and width to mixes, stems, groups, or individual tracks. Built around Rupert Neve’s signature transformer-based circuitry and Class-A amplifiers, it combines a flexible signal path with multiple tonal-shaping tools that encourage creative experimentation. Its features include a gentle, musical 2-band EQ, an optical “Color Comp” compressor with blend control, a stereo Width section, and an advanced Super Silk harmonic saturation circuit for warmth and harmonic richness. The MBT brings legendary analog character to modern productions, making it a go-to tool for engineers looking to enhance tone beyond what digital tools can typically achieve. Its straightforward controls and powerful processing make it equally suited for mastering and mix bus coloration.

Rupert Neve Designs MBT

soundonsound.com

Rupert Neve Designs' MBT is a sonic powerhouse, offering exquisite harmonic distortion, optical compression, and stereo widening. It’s a pro-grade tool, ideal for those with a taste for rich sound coloration. The Super Silk feature brings versatility, allowing users to blend Red and Blue Silk harmonics, whereas the Width processor adds an exciting dimension to stereo mixes. Despite its hefty price tag, the MBT justifies every penny with its stellar build quality and performance. However, it remains out of reach for budget-conscious buyers. If you're after professional sound sculpting, the MBT is a must-audition piece.
