Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about TC Electronic 3rd Dimension Chorus.

Features and functionality

  • The pedal operates with a series of buttons instead of knobs, offering 16 preset combinations and a unique user experience that many find preferable to traditional dial adjustments.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Particularly shines on acoustic guitars, delivering a lush, full sound, and is often left on continuously in both mono and stereo setups.

    Source
  • For bass, pressing all buttons yields the most noticeable effect, enhancing mid and high frequencies for a bright and punchy tone.

    Source

User experience

  • Some users find the footswitch engagement awkward, as it engages upon release rather than the initial press, affecting the tactile feedback during use.

    Source

Comparisons

  • While it emulates the Boss Dimension C, some users find it lacks the complexity and depth, although it's admired for its simplicity and affordability.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • High-output pickups, like Dimarzio D-Sonic, can cause the pedal to overdrive unexpectedly, whereas it performs well with lower-output PAF-like pickups.

    Source

Build quality

  • The chassis is noted to be on the huskier side, which might be a consideration for those with limited pedalboard space.

The Ugly Guitar Truth: Ugly Guitar Truth: TC Electronic 3rd Dimension Chorus

theuglyguitartruth.blogspot.com

The TC Electronic 3rd Dimension Chorus intrigues with its push-button interface and robust casing, a notable shift from Behringer's plastic norm. However, the lack of stereo output disappoints, and the button-only controls may frustrate those who prefer traditional knobs for tone adjustments. This pedal suits players unconcerned with stereo setups, offering decent sound and durable construction, but might not sway those satisfied with existing chorus options.

TC Electronics 3rd Dimension Chorus - Effects - Harmony Central

harmonycentral.com

The TC Electronic 3rd Dimension Chorus offers an affordable, reliable take on the classic Boss DC-2 sound, maintaining its analog charm with 16 unique modes through four simple buttons. However, it sacrifices the original's stereo outputs, resulting in a more two-dimensional sound that, while pleasing, lacks the expansive magic of its predecessor. A solid choice for budget-conscious musicians, but those seeking true stereo richness may be left wanting.

My kind of chorus pedal

Finally! A chorus pedal that I don't have to fiddle around with knobs on. No more obsessing over the absolute correct level of effect, feedback, volume - none of that.

All I need to do is find a small list of combinations out of the 16 available with the parameter buttons and off we go. Simple, effective, well-built. An absolute STEAL for $50 US.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

As I write this, combination 1/2/4 is really resonating with me!

fun pedal if you like Chorus and great value

As a regular Chorus user I was intrigued by the Boss Waza Dimension but at over £200 couldn't really justify it. Then I came across this which whilst not the same (no stereo and doesn't have the 2 emulation modes of the Boss) was in the ballpark for playing around with and gives a different sound to my Boss Waza Chorus which is my main Chorus pedal. Now I can go phaser, flanger, dimension, chorus all together - why not!

tomhood

a good chorus

TC Electronic provides 16 great chorus tones, It's a copy of the Boss DC-2w. It's fun if you can't decide what tone you like. Like it's a fine pedal, but I'd just go for a stompbox where you can decide, Level, Rate and Depth etc.

It's a fun pedal for beginners. (+ a great price)

16 presets. All usable. All full and rich. All differing subtlety. Useful and tough and great value.
